What does this mean to you?
- ITIL and IT Service Management are not the same thing
- Powerful players, now marginalized by recent UK government decisions, are trying to build momentum around an "ITIL plus" definition of Service Management, formalized through training and certification, that includes other frameworks such as COBIT and even CMMI.
- It seems likely that such an "ITIL plus" certification would have overlaps with certifications offered through ISACA (COBIT, security, audit), and Open Group and Microsoft (enterprise architecture).
Remember, "IT Service Management" and "IT Governance" may be essentially contested concepts.
