Longtime followers of this blog may remember that GM CIO Ralph Szygenda's call for "ERP for IT" was the first introduction I had to the concept. He was particularly interested in standardized protocols for interacting with IT outsourcing suppliers.
As reported by Chris Murphy in an Information Week article a couple months ago, GM and SEI are now collaborating on this aspect of IT management. Don't know if it could properly be called "ERP for IT," but interesting nonetheless. (yes, I'm a little behind in my reading, but nuggets like this are why I keep that pile of magazines around until I slog through them)
